Forming Collaborative Relationships with Paraprofessionals
Course:SPED 63954 Practical Application 5-8
The purpose of this guest presentation was to provide graduate level special education students with strategies for working with paraprofessionals. In my experience forming collaborative relationships with adults can be challenging. During the session I presented strategies for successful leadership and management and then gave scenarios for participants to discuss.

Physical Management (Positioning and Handling)
Course:SPED 63958 Early Childhood Intervention Methods
The purpose of this guest presentation was to introduce graduate level special education students to positioning and handling techniques and demonstrate various types of positioning equipment and explain the use of the equipment. Strategies for aligning proper positioning to classroom activities to promote inclusive practices was also discussed. I was asked to facilitate the discussion due to my extensive experience working with children with multiple disabilities in inclusive preschool settings.

Ethics and Professionalism in Early Childhood Special Education
Course: SPED 63956 Foundations in Early Childhood Service
The purpose of this guest presentation was to provide an overview or early childhood professional organizations and the DEC and NAEYC code of ethics. Participants read ethical dilemmas in groups and then found the supporting principle in the code of ethics to support the decision of how to handle the presented situation.

Early Intervention-An Introduction
Course:SPED 63200 Intro to Exceptionalities
The purpose of this guest presentation was to introduce undergraduate students to the field of early intervention. Topics included early intervention philosophy, goals, the role of the Early Intervention Professional, the Individualized Family Service Plan, and outcomes of early intervention services. The content was presented in a face to face session and participants were able to ask questions following the presentation.
