Brown, T., Hubbell, S., & Winchell, B. (2011, April). Understanding the Evidence Behind Commonly-Used Assessments in Early Childhood. Poster presented at the Council for Exceptional Children National Conference, National Harbor, Maryland.
This poster was presented at the Council for Exceptional Children National Conference. The poster outlined a literature synthesis examining the evidence behind ten commonly used early childhood assessments. Results showed that many assessments lack evidence validating use for specified purposes.

This session outlined a literature review and analysis completed in collaboration with another doctoral student at Kent State University. The analysis identified the currently available evidence base for ten commonly-used assessments in early childhood and early childhood special education settings. The results indicated inadequate research on the technical adequacy and utility of most of the assessments reviewed.

Hubbell, S. & Brown, T. (2010, April). I Know How to Manage Children in My Classroom, But How Do I Manage the Adults? Session at the Ohio Early Care and Education Conference, Columbus, OH.
This session was conducted with a fellow doctoral student, Sophia Hubbell. The purpose of this interactive session was to provide an overview of personality and temperament and strategies for classroom leadership and management. The participants were given scenarios to analyze and develop a strategy for overcoming the presented situation.

Brown, T. & Harris, K. (2007, April). Development and Implementation of Individualized Education Programs in the Early Childhood Setting. Session at the Ohio Early Care and Education Conference, Columbus, OH.
This session was conducted with a fellow doctoral student, Kathleen Harris. The purpose of the session was to provide participants a strategy for developing meaningful Individualized Education Programs. The session also described how peer mediated interventions (PMI) can be used to implement skill outlined in the IEP.
